How long has ARMS been in business? ARMS commenced business in 1982 and has provided unsurpassed Business Development to the jewellery industry for the past two decades. How many jewellers are using the ARMS system? Close to 1000 quality jewellery stores internationally use the ARMS system. Is ARMS used in other retail sectors? Yes, ARMS is currently delivering results to clients in other retail sectors including music, clothing, furniture, gifts and hardware. What is ARMS' point of difference? We are much more than a software company. We place considerable emphasis on business development and forging strong, lasting relationships with clients. The ARMS software has been specifically designed to support our business management philosophy and help you unlock the hidden profit in your business. I've heard that the ARMS system is expensive - why is it so much more expensive than other systems? ARMS is the only system which is guaranteed to be a NO COST system. We provide a written No Risk guarantee stating that if you follow the guidance of our business development consultant you will recover whatever you pay for your system in increased profits within 12 months. This effectively makes ARMS the lowest cost sytem on the market. Do you offer financing or leasing? Yes, we offer a very extensive range of leasing and rental options that make the ARMS system very affordable. Read more. Do you have a Demo CD? As ARMS is a business development system and not just software, we customise each store’s requirements individually. A demo would not do justice to the benefits that can be gained by your business. Therefore, we go one step further and will arrange for one of our Business Development representatives to call and discuss your requirements and demonstrate the benefits to you. Can I see examples of reports? Our Business Development representatives will not only give you a full presentation of ARMS’ unique reports, but will also demonstrate to you the power in each report.

Can my current system's data be converted simply? Our experienced programmers are regularly converting stock, supplier, sales and customer data from other software systems. This is a simple process, providing the data is in good condition. Can I export reports or data to other programs, such as Excel, to send to my accountant? There are facilities within ARMS’ Signature Series for exportation of data in a text format. These facilities allow the easy importation of data into Excel or Access. ARMS’ Signature Series enables reports to be emailed directly to your accountant. Can I use my own hardware or purchase hardware locally? You can use existing hardware providing it meets our recommended minimum specifications. We are happy to liaise with your hardware suppliers/technicians to ensure appropriate hardware is supplied. Will I require an Internet connection? In order for you to maximise our services, you’ll need an internet connection to update your programs (using our live update web facility), receive business information by email and to allow our experienced Client Services technicians access to your computer if you need technical assistance. What program language and database does ARMS use? ARMS signature series is written in visual basic using an SQL server, which is now our preferred development language. This Windows system is as reliable as the original system, which was developed in Basic 6 for MSDOS. Both series run on Windows 2000, 2003 or XP operating systems. What operating system does ARMS use? ARMS will run on Windows 2000, 2003 and XP operating systems.

What ongoing research and development do you undertake? We have a dedicated research and development team who continually strive to keep the ARMS software at the leading edge of the industry. Their objective is to combine the years of experience of our clients and founder Malcolm Alderton, with cutting edge technology to provide products that respond to the diverse needs of progressive business development.
Is there a charge for upgrades to the programs? For clients who pay an annual membership fee to join the ARMS Club, program upgrades are free, otherwise upgrade charges apply. How often are upgrades for your programs released? Program enhancements are released on average every two weeks and can be simply updated by clients via ARMS’ automated update system. How would I receive the upgrades? Program updates can be downloaded and installed through the use of our live Internet update facility called ARMS GlobalNet. If I have ideas for improvements to the ARMS programs, can they be added in? The ARMS suite of programs has developed over the last two decades due to input from both our clients and our expert management consultants. All suggestions received from clients for improvements are considered and, if suitable, assimilated into future program enhancements.

What training do you provide? We provide comprehensive on-site training during installation of the programs and additional on-site training is available by request. Alternatively, clients can attend Operator Training Courses held at our head offices in each country. Do you provide ongoing support, and at what level? The purchase price of ARMS software includes 12 months of free support. This gives you the chance to experience the benefits of our support. After the initial 12 month period, we provide a renewable annual support agreement. For a modest fee, you can access: unlimited telephone support; remote support using PCAnywhere across the internet; operator and business information by weekly email publications; free program upgrades using ARMS GlobalNet live update facility, and free data analysis when the integrity of the data is questioned. If I have a technical problem can I speak with a real person? ARMS prides itself on providing excellent personal service. If you call the Client Services Department, you speak to a person who can skilfully analyse your situation and enlist the assistance of an expert in that particular field if required. How big is your support team? The ARMS Client Services team consists of 15 IT professionals with a combined 150 years experience.
How long does it take your help desk to solve problems? The Client Services team will attempt to resolve issues on the first call. Of course, this is not always possible and resolution time depends on the type of problem. All resources are applied to critical problems to minimise any inconvenience. Does ARMS provide weekend support? Yes - we provide support by mobile phone outside normal business hours, including all day Saturday and Sunday.
